Even one such as I, who has been working in the IT industry for nearly 30 years, got a huge amount of value from this book, as much of the content provided some good reminders of things that I’d since forgot, including probability and statistical analysis. Both halves of the book use Python. However, there are ojhn many typos and other errors in the text and at least one code example that need correction. It covers a wide range of traditional topics such as computational complexity, basic data structures, Object-oriented programming and dynamic programming.

This new edition has been updated for Python 3, reorganized to make it easier to use for courses that cover only a subset of the material, and offers additional material including five new chapters. Don’t have a Kindle? Sometimes it helps to read the textbook material before viewing the lectures, as some of the topics we cover get quite dense after week 6 and the introduction of OOP.

This is not ‘a Python book’ — although you will learn Python. I chose this book for teaching a small intro CS class in Python 3after reviewing a lot of other books. Finger exercises coding exercises really give you a chance to put the knowledge you acquire to good use.
